weekend WORKSHOP Saturday, April 21-22, 2013
Shambhala Mountain Center
Red Feather Lakes, Colorado
The practice of calligraphy, the beautiful writing of the world,
brings us into alignment with ourselves so that true expression can occur.
In this workshop we will begin with the ancient Chinese straight line practice
for grounding and stabilizing, then move to larger brushes, bigger paper and
free form strokes based on the principles of heaven, earth and human.
Bringing what is inside out onto the page opens creative pathways and nourishes
the present moment. An interest in visual language grounded in the body
is the only prerequisite.

Barbara Bash is a longtime Shambhala artist, working with the practices of calligraphy, writing, drawing and Big Brush performance painting. She has written and illustrated a number of books , most recently True Nature: An Illustrated Journal of Four Seasons in Solitude. Her study of Dharma Art with Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche and Chinese pictograms with Ed Young brought an Eastern sensibility into her Western artistic view. More recently she has been interweaving the practices of Nonviolent Communication and Focusing into her teaching.
